The Mother's Village
We are here for you through each stage of the journey!
From doulas to lactation consultants, from yoga instructors to therapists, the village is rich with experienced professionals ready to guide, support, and nurture.
It was no longer enough for Iman to support women through birth education and as a doula, she now felt compelled to build a holistic ecosystem for mothers.
The Mother’s Village aims to disrupt the status quo, by combining evidenced based research with a renewal of traditional wisdom from around the world.
This synergistic approach places a mother at the center of the narrative.
When women are active participants in their birth, they can reconnect to their intuition, while honoring birth as a harmonious process of surrender.
In 2020, amidst the unprecedented challenges of a global pandemic, The Mother's Village was born out of a profound need for community. While pregnant with her fifth child and supporting many women in their birthing journeys, Iman realized the ever-growing necessity for a supportive village.
Born and raised in the United States to a Yemeni father and a Jamaican mother, Iman embodies the spirit of diversity and unity. Their shared warmth and hospitality, rooted deeply in their respective cultures, have been instrumental in her passion for supporting others.
Say hello to Iman!
Witnessing births from various cultural perspectives, Iman feels privileged to support, guide, and nurture mothers in their unique journeys. To her, it's more than just a role; it's an honor to be a part of such transformative moments in women's lives.
Her passion extends to supporting families irrespective of their chosen birth methods, always emphasizing planning, preparation, and active participation.
Her academic journey, including degrees in Sociology, Organizational Leadership, and ongoing studies in Clinical Social Work, stands testament to her commitment to understanding and uplifting the community around her.
In the US, Iman's work in social welfare spans supporting survivors of domestic violence, mentoring pregnant teenagers, and running community childbirth classes for diverse groups.
Now residing in Abu Dhabi as a mother of five children, Iman brings a unique perspective to birth and motherhood.
Three of her children were born within the hospital setting in UAE, and two of her children were planned homebirths in Canada. Iman’s first baby was sent to the NICU directly after birth, which made breastfeeding difficult as a first-time mother. She has also experienced miscarriage and the profound sadness of losing her son in stillbirth. Each of these experiences has deepened her understanding of motherhood, its challenges, and its immense joys.
